In the frames of the EFC AGA Conference which was held in Sarajevo in the period between 15-17 of May, 2014 the European Fund for the Balkans organised the cocktail "Motors of change" which was an opportunity to celebrate and present the success stories of EFB in the last 7 years of work in a visually attractive way using multimedia, printed materials and effective talks. With an idea to bring Europe and the donor community closer to the new Balkan perspectives, the stories of in-depth transformation of the Balkan societies and the EFB 'Motors of Change' from the different EFB programmes and countries from the region and beyond, the Fund presented the short film “Motors of change” and its human power.
The European Fund for the Balkans was established in June 2007 as a multi-year joint initiative of European Foundations including the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the King Baudouin Foundation, the Compagnia di San Paolo and ERSTE Foundation.
The four founding partners have set a pattern in promoting the responsibility of European funders in supporting and developing stability in the region. The European Fund for the Balkans is a testimony to the power of collaboration, demonstrating what foundations can do when they come and act together.
During the 7 years of operating in all Western Balkans countries and beyond, by implementing a unique programme strategy, the European Fund for the Balkans has transformed itself into a regional actor and partner to different stakeholders and an active promoter of cross-border and regional co-operation. Until this date, a valuable network of governmental and non-governmental organisations, institutions, groups, initiatives and individuals got engaged with the Fund and its activities.
This story of the growth of the Fund was presented during the introduction speeches of the Executive Director of the European Fund for the Balkans Hedvig Morvai and Luc Tayart de Borms (Managing Director, King Baudouin Foundation). Later on the moderator Jackie Davis announced the premiere of the short film “Motors of Change” and the on-spot interviews with the members of the EFB Community, followed by the networking with the representatives of the world best foundations gathered for the European Foundations Centre AGA and Conference.
