This year, the Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival is characterized by the motto “Dare to Repeat!” Supported once again by the European Fund for the Balkans, the 5th Annual Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival will be held in Sarajevo on November 28-30, 2014, at the art space Kriterion, filling 3 days with short films of great quality as well as artistic and music events and other interactive activities.
One of its kind, Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival travels every year to a different Balkan host city and focuses on new regional productions, functioning as a stage for supporting and promoting young and emerging filmmakers. This year, the Festival tackles the theme of repetition: Repetition as transformation, as the concept between identical, different and seemingly like, bringing about a reflection on contemporary issues.
The Competition Part of the festival consists of 40 films that have been selected from a pool of 160 from 32 countries. You can see the full programme of the Competition Part here.
The Award Ceremony will take place on November 30, 2014, at 20:30, where the Winner, Audience Prize, and Special Mentions will be awarded. The Special Projection will be a selection of films from Nippon Connection – Japanese Film Festival, Frankfurt. All three nights will be topped off with music events after the screenings. As a parallel event, the video works of Alma Bakiaj (GR/AL) will be on display at the premises of Kriterion.
