When it comes to “our language” should we insist on the similarities or the differences? Are Bosnian, Montenegrin, Croatian and Serbian four languages or one? Is the truth about language politically and ideologically tainted and why is it that “our language” never had a name that was acceptable to everyone? Who determines new linguistic standards and why can’t linguistics have exact yardsticks? These are some of the issues addressed by the guests of Episode 3 of Vicinities: Midhat Riđanović (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Tatjana Bečanović ( Montenegro), Maja Milošević ( Croatia) and Veljko Brborić ( Serbia). The topic of “Our Language” was opened by writer and columnist Balša Brković (Montenegro). Alumni of the European Fund for the Balkans also participated in the show.
