Balkans Beyond Borders is celebrating its first two years of operation in the Balkans with a special FILM/MUSIC event that will take place in Belgrade on 6 of April, starting at 19:30am at REX Cultural Center. With title “Let’s talk about last year’s big bad crises” the event is inspired by last year’s short film festival. The projected films are a selection from the Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival 2011 and the Film Making Workshops 2011 that had as title “Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Crises?”. The films are selected by the well-known director of short films, Kyriakos Chatzimichailidis and the BBB team. During the whole event DJ Sonja Kovacev will entertain the audience with her music at the lobby of REX. Also, members of the BBB team will be more than happy to speak and inform the audience about the organisation and the opportunities it gives to young creative people. This event in Belgrade is the carnation of the BBB idea, considering that the 1st edition of the Balkans Beyond Borders Short Film Festival took place at REX Cultural Center in 2010. By watching the films the audience will discover aspects of the region’s contemporary culture and perceptions. Balkans Beyond Borders (BBB) is a nongovernmental organisation using the art of short film and new media seeks to promote youth mobility and youth cooperation in the Balkans through “dialogue”, “interaction” and “innovative learning”. By joining BBB’s activities the young people from the Balkans, while developing practical skills, learn to coexist, cooperate and overcome “borders”. Balkans Beyond Borders serves its mission in four ways: Film Festival, Workshops, Seminars and Network Development.
