EFB Community members took part in this year's EAPC 2012 summit, where they had a unique opportunity to talk with political experts, spin doctors and researchers from all around the world. The EAPC 2012 summit was held in Dubrovnik, Croatia from 10 to 12 May 2012. The European Association of Political Consultants (EAPC) conference is the first conference in this part of the world to gather politicians and decision makers, political consultants, top public relations and advertising experts, as well as influential political reporters and journalists from the region (Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia, Slovenia). Selected EFB Community members were able to learn, gather new ideas, meet and connect with regional and European experts, as well as complete old and start new projects. The EAPC cooperates closely with other professional organizations like the IAPC, the AAPC, and ALACOP. This year’s EAPC Conference is dedicated to ‘calculating your way to success.’ Some of the best polling and research scholars and practitioners from all around the world discussed the latest technologies, techniques and insights into local voters’ minds and their decision-making process. ‘What is a political brand? New political marketing instruments’ (Sigge Nielsen), ‘Being political consultants in the Balkans’ (Krešimir Macan), ‘Impact of digital democracy on Europe’ (Ravi Singh), ‘What role do we want governments to play? An international comparison’ (Dan Wellings), ‘Your Brain is Built for Politics’ (Darren Schreiber), ‘Instant response technology’ (Mitchell Barak), ‘Strategic polling and strategy formulation’ (Dragan Bagic) were just some of the topics discussed at the summit, where experts from the region and elsewhere in the world shared and exchanged their experiences. EFB Community members had the chance to hear election country reports, both from the region (Slovenia, Serbia) and Europe (France, Russia), as well as about the ‘Economic rationale of Open Government Data’ (Martin Keegan) and the ‘Use of public data in ensuring data transparency’ (Dejan Cvetkovic).
