The fourth generation of Fellows within the European Fund for the Balkans "Fellowship Programme for Young Government Officials from the Western Balkans: Supporting Excellence and Leadership in Governance" will meet in Berlin and Potsdam for an Introductory Seminar from April 18 until April 29. The Fellowship Programme is designed to support institutional reform in the Western Balkans while supporting links between administrations in the region and individual networking. The Introductory seminar is designated to be held up in Berlin and Potsdam, organized in cooperation with Potsdam Center for Policy and Management. It offers an opportunity for meeting prominent lecturers and researchers and discussing about current issues related to European Union but to the Global World as well. First part of the seminar will be held in Berlin, where twenty Fellows selected will have a chance to discuss with the prominent guests about Expectations from the EU accession, Administrative Reforms in the Western Balkans, Monetary Union, Human Rights in the Discourse of EU Integration and Public Service Reform etc. One of the guests will be Dr. Erhard Busek, Vice Chancelor a.D., Federal Minister for Science and Research a.D. and Federal Minister with whom the fellows will be able to talk about Regional Cooperation in SEE. They will have the opportunity to meet representatives of the German Institute for Foreign Affairs and discuss German Foreign Policy towards SEE. With the researchers from the Empirical Social Research they will debate and discuss about political climate in Germany, on year before the elections. Visit to the Presentation of the Robert-Bosch Stiftung in Berlin is planned for the last they of Berlin part of the seminar. Portugal Ambassador to Germany Luis Almeida Sampaio will welcome the participants at the reception to the Embassy of Portugal at the beginning of the seminar. The relaxing part of the seminar but also intensive is the photo rally where participants experience Berlin in a completely different way. The team members will be engaged with a quiz, creative challenges and chasing after the right images, equipped only with a road book, a map and a camera. Best shots from this year’s photo rally will be online after the seminar. After the Berlin part of the programme the Group will move to Potsdam. Fellowship Programme for Young Government Officials from the Western Balkans - Supporting Excellence and Leadership in Governance is EFB programme dedicated to the development and contributing of effective and efficient state administrations in the region by offering a tailor-made fellowship and training programme for highly qualified young professionals from the central government (including entity and cantonal level government in Bosnia Herzegovina and regional level government of Vojvodina in Serbia) of the countries of the Western Balkans. The Programme is specifically designed for civil servants from the central government (including entity and cantonal level government in Bosnia Herzegovina and regional level government of Vojvodina in Serbia) who have several years of professional experience in public administration and have already assumed initial managerial responsibilities or are preparing for a position of leadership. Basic knowledge of the workings of the European Union is required and personal enthusiasm for the European idea is essential.
