The eighth episode of Vicinities Season 3 is dedicated to the elderly -- how do they live and why is it that in this region they are the ones who usually take care of the younger generation instead of being taken care of by them? As a rule, they are misunderstood, frequently forgotten, often lonely, and now that they know more than ever before, nobody wants to hear them. Their greatest fear is to be a burden to others. The state of senior citizens was discussed by Lukša Lucianović (Croatia), Milena Zupančič (Slovenia), Nadežda Satarić (Serbia) and Dragi Argirovski (Macedonia). Writer and columnist Balša Brković (Montenegro) gave the opening keynote: “The relationship with the senior population is one of the genuine and serious tests for a community and society that measures the level of empathy existing in the community.”
